NAPE Signs Several Letters to DC Committees and Agencies

NCWJIT and NCWGE (of which NAPE is a partner) sent a joint letter dated July 18, 2011, to the Senate HELP committee, providing
recommendations for markup of the WIA legislation.

NAPE signed on to letter dated July 13, 2011, opposing the balanced budget amendment.

On July 12, 2011, NAPE responded to Request for Comments regarding NSF Merit Review Principles and Criteria .

Work-force Training Changes Gain Momentum in Congress Sean F. Driscoll, Rockford Register Star
Congress is tentatively moving forward with a reauthorization of the Workforce Investment Act, the guiding law for spending billions of retraining dollars across the country. The Senate has released a draft bill that will restructure state and local training systems, including the local Workforce Investment Board, and expand available training options. A markup session--when the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions will debate and possibly amend the bill--is scheduled for Aug. 3.
