Proposed USDOE Reorganization

U.S. Department of Education shared plans for an agency reorganization at an internal meeting last week (and last year President Trump signed an Execuitve Order to reorganize the Executive Branch and called for decreasing personnel). While the full plan has not yet been released and many of the details are unknown at this time, one of the proposed shifts would be to merge the Office of Career, Technical and Adult Education (OCTAE) and the Office of Postsecondary Education. The new office would be called the “Office of Postsecondary and Lifelong Learning” and would eliminate the position of OCTAE Assistant Secretary. Some of the changes required to make such a shift would need congressional approval, while others can occur without it. Learn more from Inside Higher Ed.
