Preparing for Next Generation STEM Jobs Briefing

The Congressional STEM Education Caucus in partnership with the STEM Education Coalition Policy Forum, National Association of Manufacturers, and the American Council on Education hosted a briefing titled, Preparing for Next-Generation STEM Jobs: Partnerships between Higher Education and Industry. Industry and higher education leaders discussed how colleges and universities are working with industry to prepare students for the next generation STEM jobs. Panelist offered insight about the innovative partnerships between two-year and four-year colleges and industry that work together to educate the future workforce, provide real world experience, and create a pipeline for the future workforce.

The event was lead by House STEM Education Caucus Co-Chairs, Congressman Dan Lipinski (D-IL) and Congressman Randy Hultgren (R-IL)–both members of the House Committee on Science, Space and Technology.  The session was moderated by Gardner Carrick, Vice President of Strategic Initiatives, Manufacturing Institute. Featured panelists were: Kemi Jona, Founding Director, Lowell Institute School and Associate Dean for Undergraduate Programs, Northeastern University, Chris Lowery, Senior Vice President for Workforce Alignment, Ivy Tech Community College and Andrea Cox, Supply Chain Quality & Compliance Leader, GE Aviation.
