National Research Center for Career and Technical Education
(NRCCTE) is pleased to announce the
State Technical Assistance Academy, a new project being funded
by the
Office of Vocational and Adult Education (OVAE). Annually,
the Academy will offer a select number of states technical
assistance in a high need area. This year’s focus is on preparing
underrepresented students for success in Nontraditional
Occupations. This initiative, being conducted by the
Academy for Educational Develoment (AED), in collaboration
with
MPR Associates, Inc., and the
National Association of State Directors of Career Technical
Education Consortium (NASDCTEc) will:
·
raise awareness of
barriers and obstacles to student participation in, and
completion of, nontraditional programs;
·
offer strategies to
streamline the collection of accurate local program data;
provide analytic tools to identify under- and
out-performing providers; and
·
describe
research-based approaches for improving statewide performance
on the measures.
Teams will participate in a technical assistance Academy meeting
in Washington D.C. June 26 and 27 and will receive funding to help
offset some of the travel expenses. Additional details on the
Academy can be found on the attached fact sheet.
Five state teams will be selected through a
competitive application process. Fill out the
application, or

criteria sheet that will be used to select the states by
