Affiliate Members will receive the following benefits:

NETWORKING  As an Affiliate Member you will have access to a network of professionals whose ideas and information are exchanged through dialogue and collective action. You can post questions and share resources and ideas on the members-only listserve. A national directory of state equity contacts and affiliate members is maintained at the national office and distributed regularly to members.

Timely Federal Policy Alerts  As an Affiliate Member you will receive up-to-the-minute information about federal and state policy affecting education and workforce development. The regular updates and alerts that are sent out on the members-only listserve will inform you of federal policy activity and alert you to action that you can choose to take to impact decisions before they are made.  This information will also help you keep track of new programmatic proposals and annual budget and appropriations debates that will affect Perkins, WIA, TANF, HEA, and other Congressional and Administrative proposals affecting education and workforce development.

Reduced Registration Fees  NAPE sponsors two annual meetings each year: the Professional Development Institute (PDI) held in Washington, D.C., each spring and a Professional Development Workshop and Members Meeting at the Association for Career and Technical Education Convention in December. As an Affiliate Member, you will be eligible for a reduced registration fee at the PDI. Previous years’ participants have said, “This is the best conference I attend every year.” Occasional audio conferences and other electronic professional development opportunities are held based on interest and need.

Free/Discounted Publications  As an Affiliate Member you will receive a free sample of all NAPE publications and additional copies at a discount. NAPE also regularly publishes curriculum and research and policy publications with national coalition partners.

Free Resources  As an Affiliate Member you will receive free resources collected by NAPE staff and shared by other NAPE members. NAPE is known across the nation as the best equity resource network. Members regularly share developed publications and resources—free of charge.

Technical Assistance  As an Affiliate Member you will have access to our expert staff at the national office via phone and e-mail. Don’t hesitate to call them whenever you have a technical assistance question. If they don’t know the answer, they will find it for you.

National Advocacy  As an Affiliate Member your voice will be heard in Washington, D.C., by other advocacy organizations, Congress, and the Administration. NAPE regularly responds to requests from Congress and the Administration for feedback regarding the development of federal policy and legislation. NAPE also develops policy papers on current issues in equity in education and workforce development and shares these with national policy makers. National office staff members make regular visits to legislators’ offices to represent your concerns regarding federal policy.

Organization Leadership  As an Affiliate Member you will have the opportunity to provide input into the development of NAPE’s annual Program of Work and to make a difference by participating on NAPE committees. Participation on a committee is one of the most valuable ways you can provide leadership and help build a stronger organization that works for you.
