NAPE
Accomplishments
NAPE’s efforts during the past fifteen years
have focused on gathering and disseminating information, developing
equity resource materials, sponsoring professional development, and
partnering with other organizations. A list of selected accomplishments
follows:
Gathering and disseminating information

Established a
listserve to send
legislative updates and other important information to member states

Distributed
publications developed by other organizations and states to members

Provided information
about equity programs and issues to U.S. Senators and Representatives
and to other national and state policy makers

Kept congressional
staffers informed of the progress of the implementation of Perkins III
-
Sent all NAPE members information of interest regarding Perkins III
implementation and accountability, the Workforce Investment Act,
Welfare to Work, TANF, HEA, and public policy updates
-
Prepared position
papers in response to legislation being developed in Congress,
including career and technical education, job training, and welfare
reform
-
Conducted a biennial survey of
the states on the implementation of Perkins III
-
Conducted a data
collection and accountability project focused on the Perkins
accountability system, particularly the fourth core indicator and
special populations data
Developing equity resource materials

Developed Creating
Opportunities for Special Populations and Students Pursuing
Nontraditional Training and Employment, Women & Girls Today,
and
System Building Standards for Educational Reform

Developed—in
partnership with the Multistate Academic and Vocational Curriculum
Consortium (MAVCC)—Taking the Road Less Traveled: Educator’s
Toolkit to Prepare Students for Nontraditional Careers and
the supplement, Destination Success: Tools for Improving Student Outcomes in
Nontraditional Programs

development of the accountability system

assist states in implementing the nontraditional provisions in Perkins

and Practices that Work project with the National Women's Law Center (NWLC),
the Association for Career and Technical Education (ACTE),
